Amazon just hired Candace Thille from Stanford University, a a pioneer in learning science and open educational delivery. She has taken a leave of absence from Stanford University for a position at Amazon, the massive retailer. Thille will serve as director of learning science and engineering. In that capacity, she will work with the Global Learning Development Team to scale and innovate workplace learning at Amazon.
Some insiders believe there is more at work here. Amazon launches five new products per day. And, with their wealth of data, learning science could be the secret sauce in Amazon’s next phase.
