Managing the logistics to train more than 80,000 members of Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union has always called for equal parts persistence and creativity. With the purchase of Meridian Knowledge Solutions’ flagship product, the Meridian Global LMS, life for those administering training for the union will get much better.
The new LMS, which will launch in January 2011, will replace a confederation of databases and VPN connections that training coordinators use to track training, archive students’ certifications and grades and register union members and staff for classes. It is expected to dramatically improve the group’s ability to check members’ eligibility for training and register people for classes.
Members work six days a week, 14 hours a day and the training staff is working at different times across many, many locations.
