NGrain is now delivering its Virtual Damage Repair and Tracking software to Lockheed Martin for F-22 maintenance. Already used for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (J.S.F.) Program, the interactive maintenance and repair tracking solution is the only F-22 application originating from a supplier outside the U.S.
Lockheed Martin first selected the 3-D simulation technology provider to transform its damage assessment and repair system in February, 2008. Tracking repair history of the airframe is a key component of ensuring flight worthiness for any aircraft, yet this is traditionally a cumbersome, non-digital process.
Based on NGrain’s volume graphics technology, the solution allows aircraft maintainers to quickly and accurately capture damage information on a detailed digital exterior representation of the F-35 aircraft, and store and access that data on Lockheed Martin’s proprietary back-end logistical system.
