The Elearning! Institute announced the first recipients of the prestigious Learning! Professional Certification. The following recipients have distinguished themselves in the field of learning and workplace technologies and have demonstrated their unselfish willingness to share their knowledge and expertise with their peers. In alphabetical order, the recipients of the first Learning! Professional
Certification are:
>> Dr. Thomas Archibald – director of Learning Outcomes Assessment at Northeastern University, formerly the Advanced Distance Learning (ADL) Co-Lab Hub director of Operations under the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In addition to his efforts at ADL, Dr. Archibald assisted by providing direction for the development and refinement of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).
>> Jay Cross – founder and principal at the Internet Time Group and author of many books on e-learning, often referred to as the “Johnny Appleseed of Informal Learning.” He literally wrote the book on informal learning, and is also the co-author of ”Implementing eLearning and The Working Smarter Fieldbook.”
>> Derek Cunard – Dean of American Heart University, American Heart Association. He and his small team at the American Heart Association was the No. 1 recipient of the Learning! 100 Awards in the public sector in 2012.
>> Nick van Dam – An internationally recognized consultant, author, speaker and thought leader on corporate learning and development. He is director and a chief learning officer in Global Talent for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL), and founder of E-Learning for Kids foundation – a Learning! 100 Award Winner.
>> Dr. Christopher Hardy – Global director of Learning Technology at the Defense Acquisition University, Department of Defense. He is a thought leader and multi-time winner of the Learning! 100 Award in the Public Sector.
>> John Hunter – An award-winning, gifted teacher and educational consultant. Hunter has dedicated his life to helping children realize their full potential. He is our 2011 Teacher of the Year, inventor of “The World Peace Game” and star of the documentary “World Peace and Other 4th-Grade Achievements.”
>> Salman Khan – Founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform and non-profit organization. He has produced more than 2,400 popular videos elucidating a wide spectrum of concepts, achieving more than 75 million views. He is listed as No. 7 on Fast Company’s list of the 100 Most Creative People in Business.
>> Leland Melvin – Associate Administrator for Education for NASA. In this role, he leads the agency in inspiring interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM. Melvin also chairs the Education Coordinating Committee, and serves on the White House National Science and Technology Council’s Committee on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education, or CoSTEM.
>> John Moxley – Director of Leadership Development, Cricket Communications. Moxley is an expert in O.D. and learning, and has distinguished himself as both a Learning! 100 Award recipient and the creator of the heralded mobile learning program at Cricket University.
>> Alice Muellerweiss – Dean, Veteran’s Affairs Learning University, Department of Veterans Affairs, and No. 4 in the Learning! 100 Award for the Public Sector. Mullerweiss and her organization offer an enterprise-wide, multimodal training program to more than 320,000 employees.
>> Jeff Stepler – Vice president, Organization Engagement HR, The Cheesecake Factory. He is the creator of The Cheesecake Factory’s innovative staff engagement strategy, which put the power of video and learning in the hands of the employees.
>> Vicki Tambellini – Award-winning leader, author, blogger, consultant and social business software entrepreneur. Tambellini is known for her work building Enterprise Hive’s Social Knowledge Solutions and for the creation of edu1world.org.
>> Alan Todd – Chairman, Corporate University Exchange and former CEO of KnowledgePlanet, one of the original LMS platforms, and one of the founders of the LMS industry. He is one of the top thought leaders and innovators in the world of corporate learning and development.
>> Karie Willyerd – An industry veteran and the former C.L.O. for Sun Microsystems, where she led a team that won more than 30 awards from 2008 through 2010, including the ASTD No. 1 training department in the world. She is also the co-author of “The 2020 Workplace: How Innovative Companies Attract, Develop, and Keep Tomorrow’s Employees Today.”
>> Veronica Zaman – Corporate vice president, Human Resources and Learning, for Scripps Health in San Diego. In her role, she holds responsibility for the strategic direction of workforce planning, education, development and recruitment of staff for the Scripps system-wide organization and is one of the top Learning! 100 Award recipients for her work at Scripps Health.
